INTERNATIONAL VISITORS TO VIETNAM INCREASE OVER 8.2% IN THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF 2012

Statistic from Vietnam General Statistic Office (GSO) reveal that the number of international tourists to Vietnam in February 2012 is over 680,000, increasing by 8.2% in comparison with the previous month, and 29.4% higher than the same period last year.

 

In February, there are 413,971 leisure tourists, rising 32.6% over one year, those for business: 113,717 (up 22.9%), for visiting relatives: 114,200 (up 23.8%), and for other purposes: 32,961 (up 33.1%).

By means of transportation, in February, international arrivals by air reach 592,430, about 31.3% higher than February 2011, by road: 83,422 (up 16.5%), and by sea: 5,977 (up 42.3%).

Arrivals from familiar sending countries keeps growing impressively, led by Russia (55.1%), followed by China (51.5%), Taiwan (40.5%), South Korea (38.4%), Cambodia (32.1%), Malaysia (31.9%), France (18.8%), Japan (16.9%), and USA (1.5%).

Earlier, Vietnam welcomed around 630,000 inbound tourists in January 2012, 24.8% higher than January 2011. Positive data for Vietnam’s tourism in February 2012 has pushed the number of international tourists to the S-shaped country up to more than 1,300,000 in the first two month of this year.
